What is web hosting?

Web hosting is renting space on a web server (provided by an Internet Service Provider – ISP) that publishes your website onto the internet.

Why do I need web hosting?

If your website isn’t published on a web server it won’t be on the World Wide Web and no-one would be able to find it.  It would be like having a shop that’s permanently closed.

Why can’t I host my website myself?

Well you could, but there are some very good reasons to choose a web hosting company instead.  Firstly, the contract you have signed with your ISP probably has a clause forbidding you to do this.  If you go ahead and publish anyway, your contract would be terminated.  Also, web hosting companies have far greater server power, bandwidth and transfer rates that most individuals so websites are quickly available to people browsing the Net.  Plus, they look after all the support, upgrades and technical issues to ensure your website is available 24/7, 365 days a year – tasks you would otherwise have to do yourself.

I’ve seen free web hosting companies advertising on the web, why should I pay for this service?

What if I need Webmail?

What options are there on payment?

Does Easyhost provide invoices with my details on them?

Of course!  Just let us know your required frequency (monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or annually) and we’ll set this up.

I don’t want to be tied into long-term contracts, can you help?

How do I cancel my Easyhost contract?

We’d be really sorry to see you go and would like to understand why you’re leaving to see if we can help.  But if you do want to leave, simply send us an email and we’ll terminate the contract there and then.  You won’t pay for a single day more and can leave at any time you want.
